History -
Since 1933, Walt Disney wanted to work on an animated feature of Lewis Carroll's classic tale, Alice in Wonderland. His dream was put on hold after a live action version of Alice in Wonderland was made by Paramount Pictures. Later, Disney had David Hall - a Hollywood artist and designer - come up with some concepts of the characters in Alice in Wonderland. The two started working on the beginning steps on the movie when World War II interupted their process. Production didn't start again until the 1940s. Walt had concern with this movie also. He worried that the story was too recognized and it may be discarded by the public. He added a twist to the story to make it more original by giving Alice more emotions in the film.
Alice in Wonderland premiered in England and in America two days later. The film was widely successful. It was later re-discovered by the psychedelic generation when it was made available on 16mm for schools, and it was re-released in theaters in 1974 and 1981. Alice in Wonderland was released on video in 1981 and 1986 and kept in release.
