History -
Enchanted was a film written to celebrate (and poke fun of) the classic Disney animated movies. The original writter, Bill Kelly, had trouble selling the idea to Disney produces. However, after several re-writes, the story was adopted and put into production. It took years and several different writers and producers to finalize the script. The role of Giselle was being considered by Reese Witherspoon or Kate Hudson, but they declined. In 2005, the Enchanted ensemble was cast, and they began shooting. The live-action filming only took a couple months, but the animation portion, headed by director Kevin Lima, took over a year. It was the first movie that involved animation and live-action since "Who Framed Roger Rabbit" in 1988.
